Patellofemoral stabilisation

What is Patellofemoral Instability?
The patellofemoral joint consists of the patella (kneecap) and the femoral groove it glides through during knee movement. In a healthy knee, the patella tracks smoothly within this groove.
However, when alignment is off or supporting structures are weak or damaged, the patella can partially shift (subluxation) or fully dislocate, causing pain, instability, swelling and reduced mobility.
Patellofemoral stabilisation refers to a group of surgical procedures designed to correct this instability and restore normal patellar tracking.
