Multi-ligament reconstruction
Multi-Ligament Knee Reconstruction is a complex surgical procedure performed to repair or reconstruct two or more damaged ligaments in the knee following significant trauma. The knee is stabilised by four key ligaments – the ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL.
When multiple ligaments are injured, the knee becomes severely unstable, often making it difficult – if not impossible – to bear weight or walk.
These injuries usually result from high-energy impacts, such as:
– Motor vehicle or motorcycle accidents
– High-speed sports collisions (e.g. football, rugby, skiing)
– Falls from significant height
– Knee dislocations
Due to the severity and complexity of these injuries, prompt diagnosis and coordinated surgical intervention are essential for restoring knee stability, function and long-term joint integrity.
