PCL reconstruction
The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is one of the key stabilisers of the knee, preventing the shinbone (tibia) from moving too far backward under the thighbone (femur). Injuries to the PCL can result from high-impact trauma, sports injuries, or motor vehicle accidents, and can lead to ongoing instability, pain, and reduced function.
At his Sunshine Coast practice, Dr. Shane Blackmore offers advanced PCL reconstruction techniques, drawing on over a decade of experience in minimally invasive knee surgery and complex ligament reconstructions.
Dr Blackmore uses arthroscopic (keyhole) techniques for PCL reconstruction to minimise surgical trauma and improve recovery time. The procedure involves replacing the damaged ligament with a graft (commonly using hamstring or quadriceps tendon) to restore normal knee mechanics.
If you’re dealing with a PCL injury and looking for expert care, contact Dr Shane Blackmore’s practice to arrange an assessment and discuss your treatment options.
