What is Tibial Osteotomy?
Tibial osteotomy is a surgical procedure used to realign the shinbone (tibia) in patients with knee arthritis or joint deformities. The goal of the surgery is to shift the body’s weight away from the damaged area of the knee to a healthier part of the joint – relieving pain, restoring alignment, and potentially delaying or avoiding a total knee replacement.
It is most commonly performed in younger, active patients with medial (inner) compartment osteoarthritis and bow-legged (varus) alignment.
